Daikin catches big air in Flanders
Daikin, a Japanese company, is the global market leader in air conditioning, with 80 factories and 220 offices worldwide. “We are a total comfort provider,” says Frans Hoorelbeke, chairman of Daikin Europe. “From cooling, heating, humidifying and dehumidifying to providing fresh and clean air”.
In 1972, the company decided to open a manufacturing plant in Ostend, Flanders, to unlock the European market. “The infrastructure, the people’s language skills, and the loyal workforce is what brought Daikin to Ostend,” Frans Hoorelbeke explains.
The site in Ostend contains a mix of Belgian and Japanese elements, such as the Japanese garden. “Our Japanese colleagues like to come here,” he continues. “They can play golf, the food is tasty, they can travel around easily and the climate is more comfortable compared to Japan. They all agree: Flanders is a pleasant country to live in.”
In addition to the highly skilled local talent and high standard of living, more and more companies also choose Flanders because of its industry-leading cluster organizations, R&D incentives, and focus on innovation. Regardless of your business activities, you can easily find a low-cost industrial site that suits your needs.
