Joe Tenuto founded The Joey Tenuto Band (also called the Joe Tenuto Band) in Illinois in 1980. Joey Tenuto Jr. joined the band in the early 90s. Back then the bassist was John Sauter, who also played for Ted Nugent, Mitch Ryder, Muddy Waters and many others.
Then the two Tenutos moved out of Illinois and to South Florida, where they have toured for the past 15 years. Nowadays The Joe Tenuto Band consists of the two Tenutos, Phil Mann, Dick Perkins, Ricky Williams who has recorded on Ben E King Supernatural Album and wrote tunes for members of The Temptations and Doc Allison who has played with James Brown, Lou Rawls, Lonnie Brooks, The Cadillacs, The Coasters and many more.
Drummer Scott Craig toured as drummer for the Southern hard rock band Molly Hatchet from 2011 to 2013, after playing drums for the rock band Blackfoot earlier.
