ee Nay is a folk singer/songwriter who captivates her audience with her unique tone, powerful messages and magnetic presence.
Ree Nay began singing before she could talk, unknowingly creating melodies in her cot.
Reenay was heavily influenced by artists such as cat Stevens, Joni Mitchell, and Dolly Parton and Celine Dion. At the age of 7, Ree Nay began writing poetry and her own songs with a strong desire to communicate something deeper to her listeners. Her inspiration was drawn from her love of travelling, adventure, learning, and her desire for constant change, which was sparked by growing up in the transient town of Darwin. The adventure began when Ree Nay relocated to Melbourne to study and pursue music. Ree Nay played in venues such as ‘The corner hotel, ‘Starbar’ and ‘The Espy Hotel’. In 2010 Ree Nay played the gig scene in East London under the guidance of a small promotional company, playing her own original music in venues such as ’old blue last’ and ‘Hoxton square bar and kitchen’. During her time in London, Ree Nay worked with several producers, and also toured extensively supporting a band called 'The Islington Boys Club'.
In 2012, Ree Nay relocated to Melbourne to record her debut EP ‘seen you before’ with the renowned Australian producer ’James Kempster’. The EP was released to critical acclaim in 2013, which saw her tour nationally and play festivals. Ree Nay is currently due to release her debut album in March of 2016, with James Kempster once again under her own independent label, ‘Lala Records’. (www.lalarecords.net)
