An Indian Railway official saved the life of a passenger, who was about to fall into the gap between the platform and the train, at Kalyan station in Mumbai on February 16.

Shashikant Chavan, who works as a ticket checker, was chatting with a colleague on platform 5 when he saw a passenger, Sandeep Sonkar, trying to board a moving Pushpak Express.

Unable to get a grip on the on the door, Sonkar lost his balance and was about to slip into the gap.

Chavan rushed to grab Sonkar and managed to pulled him to safety.

Senior Railway officials said Chavan would be rewarded for his bravery with a commendation certificate and cash award.

A CCTV camera at the station captured the heart-stopping drama.
