Building a Wickiup Shelter (Day 3)
I get back to the shelter and work on my roof. I make a bacon and cheese bannock for lunch. I add more wood and try a method I am not very familiar with, thatching. I wanted to try this technique with cattails for a long time. Total building time is now at 9 hours.\r

For those interested, this is more or less my bannock recipe: All ingredients are mostly measured by eye.So for the dry stuff its about a pinch of salt & and pinch of white sugar then 1 tbsp. of baking powder(You can put 2 tbsp. if you want it to be closer to a bread texture). 3 cups of flour (you can use white or whole grain). This is when I add the extra ingredients to the dry ingredients. So I added about half a cup of cooked & cut bacon, and half a cup of cheddar cheese. Then I add about 1 cup of milk, you could also use water but I think milk tastes better. Add the milk slowly and mix everything together, if its not like a dough texture just add more flour or milk. Oh and yes also put about 1/3 cup of melted butter in the mix. I recommend just searching bannock recipes on internet and experimenting what you prefer. I made some before with dry raisins, cinnamon and brown sugar and also with dried blueberries and cranberries in the past. When you manipulate it whether you do it on a stick or in a frying pan, just put more flour on your hands so the dough doesnt stick all over your hands so much.\r
