It is probably an exaggeration to call this ‘hunting but it was the closest I got to date. It didnt take days as I always hoped for but just under three exhausting hours. I came unprepared and unexpecting anything. Originally I have left my home stay that day in search for coffee farms. While wondering around I decided to get some drinking water from something what looked like store with people living in it. I didnt rush to leave, hoping to get in to some king of interion. It wasnt a place where any tourists would venture at all so they were naturally curious of me as well. Shortly after standing there two young boys came around proudly carrying rifles over their back. Obviously it was an easy conversation starter. Soon they have offered me to join them on their small hunting walk trough the jungle that happened to be surrounding the place.\r
Forrest was rather dark and extremely humid. Hundreds of always present mosquitos tuned me in to the killing more. Dengue fever was something to avoid at all cost. Those small and nasty creatures I was supposed stay away from gave me surprisingly very few bites.\r
I wasnt exly sure what we were hunting for. It wasnt very easy to communicate with them while walking. I just followed their steps trying to stay away from the bullets. We were definitely just on the edge of the jungle so it was unlikely that we were to see larger animals. In f Yudi (one of the boys) told me that shooting a monkey with light rifle might just result in making it angry. I knew I was not ready at all to see a dead monkey. Once we have stepped in, it took them maybe half an hour to catch a bat and a squirrel. Later on they were less successful but the pray they caught was sufficient to cook a small lunch. Fruits were much more rewarding. Coco, young coconut and Durian taste best when you can pick them up yourself. I was amazed how accommodating this wild forrest can be.\r
