There’s an emotional story behind why a man used a whip to pop a balloon at a gender reveal party in Lamar County, Texas.
In the video, Roy Partin II, 39, can be seen holding a whip at a gender reveal party for he and wife, Lindsay, 33.
Roy plans to use the whip to pop black balloons that are filled with either pink or blue powder to reveal the gender of their baby.
He takes a crack at popping the first balloon with the whip, but after several attempts, he ends up stomping on the balloon with his foot to reveal blue powder.
After he succeeds in popping a second balloon with the whip, he drops the whip and puts his hands in the air and then walks over to his wife to give her a hug.
Lindsay explained why it was an emotional moment:
“After two and a half years of heartbreak and three miscarriages, we found out we were pregnant,” she explained.
“We wanted to do something different and unique to celebrate this baby,” she said. “My husband makes bull whips, so I thought what a different and creative way to pop the balloons.”
“My husband and I and all of our friends and family didn't know the gender of the baby,” she said. “We had a close friend that owns a flower shop fill the balloons for us. We were told it was two out of three for the gender.”
“Little did we know they were all filled with blue powder,” she said. “That was a complete shock. We already have two beautiful daughters and now we get to add a little boy to the mix.”
