Passengers leap from a plane after a fellow customer caused a bomb scare while it was parked on the tarmac.

Frightened passengers broke an emergency window and then jumped and ran for their lives as their flight was preparing to take off from Supadio airport in Pontianak city West Kalimantan, Indonesia.

Footage taken by a pilot shows dozens of people standing on the right wing of the Lion Air Boeing 737, which was due to carry 189 passengers to Jakarta on Monday night.

People were seen tumbling off the engine and wing in a desperate bid to flee from the plane in chaotic scenes.

Frantinus Nirigi, 26, caused the panic after telling a flight attendant there was a bomb on the flight, according to West Kalimantan police spokesman Nanang Purnomo.

Two men arrested in Monday's incident face up to eight years in prison. There were no explosives found on the aircraft.
