Film extra almost arrested for looking like a real tramp

A Scots bit-part actor who has played more than 70 roles yesterday (Tues) revealed how police once tried to arrest him while filming – because they thought he was a real tramp. Maxwell Kay, 55, from Kirkintilloch, fell in to acting after he was laid off while working at the Theatre Royal in Glasgow. He managed to score his first role shortly in the TV show Rockface where he had to repeatedly throw up on a window inside a police station. But it was while he was in costume as a Buckfast-drinking tramp near the Arches in Glasgow that he fooled local coppers into thinking he was the real deal.
