A Romanian fraudster has been jailed for stealing gems and coins worth £24,000 from jewellers by using sleight of hand to trick them.

Mircea Rostas, 26, who has convictions for crimes abroad, began his spree within months of arriving in the UK in October 2016.

He and an accomplice - who is still at large - targeted eight small jewellery shops around the country, creating an 'air of confusion' to pull off the heists.
