Garcia Lorca: The Socialist Poet Censored By Franco

Spanish poet, playwright, and theater director, Federico Garcia Lorca, was born on this day in 1898. García Lorca is one of the most important Spanish poets and dramatists of the twentieth century. He was executed by Spanish Fascists under Franco's orders in 1936 for being gay and a socialist and anti-fascist.
