An infant chimpanzee that was orphaned due to the bushmeat and poaching trades, and now in the care of chimpanzee rescue Akatia in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, took comfort during some painful teething by sucking his toe.A video shared to Facebook on August 28 by Akatia showed the infant, estimated to be around four to five months old.The post added, “When baby chimpanzees are teething, they also like to suck their thumbs but their thumbs are on their feet! The digit that most resembles our thumbs are their big toes.”At the time of writing, the chimpanzee was pushing out his first two teeth, and most likely suffering from some sore gums.
