00:04Samson is a very proud engine. He usually works on the Mainland, but sometimes comes over to help on the Island of Sodor.
00:16Thomas was collecting some cars from the shunting yard when Samson arrived.
00:22"Hello, Thomas. Diesel. Stanley."
00:26"Hello, Samson."
00:26"Hello."
00:27[DIESEL GROANS]
00:28"Been asked to help out with a big order of stone from the Blue Mountain Quarry. Sir Topham Hatt wants it moved quickly and efficiently. Said I was the only engine for the job."
00:40"Nonsense!"
00:41[THOMAS WHISTLES]
00:42"You're not the only engine for the job."
00:44"And how would you know, Thomas?"
00:46"Because I'm helping too."
00:49[DIESEL SNIGGERS]
00:54Samson followed Thomas up to the quarry.
00:57"Hello, Sir Handel. Hello, Peter Sam."
01:00"Hello, Samson."
01:01"Hello."
01:02"Hurry up, Samson, or we're never going to get this job done quickly or efficiently.
01:09[THOMAS GIGGLES]
01:12Samson collected some stone, determined to show everyone just how important he was.
01:20"And what about those cars? Going to the docks are they, Sir Handel?"
01:24"Yes, Samson, but you'll have to come back for them. You can't pull that many cars in one go."
01:31"Yes, I can! They don't call me Samson for nothing! Don't want to travel back and forth more times than I have to. I'll take them now and save time."
01:42[SAMSON WHISTLES]
01:44[SAMSON STRAINS]
01:49"Are you sure you're saving time there, Samson?"
01:53[GASPS]
01:54"Once I get going, you won't believe how fast I can be!"
01:57"You're right - I won't!"
02:00"Neither will I, Samson! Good luck!"
02:03[SIR HANDEL AND PETER SAM CHUCKLE]
02:09Samson slowly managed to build up some speed.
02:12[SAMSON SCOFFS]
02:14"Nobody thinks I can do anything. That's why Sir Topham Hatt asked me to..."
02:19[GASPS]
02:23"Stop? No!"
02:25[SAMSON STRAINS]
02:27[BRAKES SCREECH]
02:37[SIGNAL CLANGS]
02:39"Oh, so now I can go(!)"
02:42[SAMSON WHISTLES]
02:43[SAMSON STRAINS]
02:48But it was when Samson came to Gordon's Hill that his troubles really began.
02:54"Oh, need a good speed to get over that one."
03:00[SAMSON PANTS]
03:05"Come on now, Samson! Show that hill what...you're...made of!"
03:16[SAMSON STRAINS THEN GROANS]
03:23Samson backed up to try again.
03:28"Right. Okay, we can do this."
03:31[SAMSON PANTS AND STRAINS]
03:38"Oh! Come on, Samson! Don't let it best you!"
03:43[SAMSON GRUNTS THEN GROANS]
03:49[SAMSON SIGHS]
03:51"It's no use."
03:53[THOMAS WHISTLES]
03:55Thomas had already delivered his cars to the docks and was on his way back to the quarry again.
04:02"Oh? Having a nice rest, are you, Samson?"
04:09"No! Working very hard as it happens. Haven't you seen how many cars I'm pulling?"
04:14"Ummm...too many?"
04:18"Trying to save time, Thomas. Need to get the job done. Perhaps you'd like to give me a push instead of making silly comments?"
04:28Thomas crossed over to the other track so he could give Samson a push.
04:35"Best back up a little, Thomas. Need to get up some speed."
04:39"Okay. Back away, the track's clear."
04:42[THOMAS AND SAMSON WHISTLE]
04:46[PAXTON HONKS HORN]
04:48[THOMAS GASPS]
04:49"Stop, Samson! Stop!"
04:51[SAMSON GASPS]
04:55[THOMAS SIGHS]
04:56"Hello, Thomas! Am I going the wrong way?"
05:00"No. I am. I'm helping Samson take his cars over the hill. He took too many."
05:07"I did not."
05:09"Oh, shall I help?"
05:11"Ooh, good idea."
05:18"Ready, Samson?"
05:19"Of course I am! Always ready!"
05:22"One..."
05:24BOTH: "...two...three...push!"
05:29[THOMAS WHISTLES AND PAXTON HONKS HORN]
05:36[SAMSON PANTS]
05:38"That's it! That's it! That's it! I knew we could do it! I knew it! I knew it!"
05:45[SAMSON LAUGHS]
05:48"Thanks, Paxton!"
05:50"My pleasure!"
05:59"Whoa! Thomas! No! Slow them down! Slow them down!"
06:06[BRAKES SCREECH]
06:12"That's it, Thomas. Tip-top! Everything's under control."
06:18"Okay, Samson. Can you stop, please? I need to be uncoupled now."
06:23"There's no time to stop, Thomas. Already late."
06:27So, Samson pulled Thomas all the way to Brendam Docks...whether he liked it or not.
06:38[SAMSON WHISTLES]
06:43"Samson, here, sir. At your service. Brought more stone from the quarry, sir, as requested."
06:50"What are you playing at, Samson? This is the first delivery you've made all morning!"
06:56"Err, yes, sir. That's correct, sir. Unexpected delay, sir. Got stuck on Gordon's Hill."
07:02"Well, I'm not surprised. You're pulling far too many cars and what on earth is Thomas doing at the back of your train? Oooh, I might've known you'd be involved, too, Thomas."
07:17"It's my fault Thomas is here. Thomas only helped me over the hill. Didn't want to stop to have him uncoupled. Trying to save time and be efficient, sir."
07:27"But you're not saving time, Samson. You're causing confusion and delay."
07:34By the time Samson got back to the quarry, Thomas was already loaded and ready to go again.
07:42"Err...sorry, Thomas. Didn't mean to get you into trouble back there."
07:46"That's alright, Samson. It was you who really got into trouble."
07:50"My own fault. Never mind. Need to learn from my mistakes."
07:55"So...I guess you won't be taking so many cars next time?"
07:59[THOMAS WHISTLE]
08:00"Certainly not, Thomas! That would be silly."
08:04[THOMAS GIGGLES]
08:09But as Thomas was approaching Gordon's Hill again, Samson came racing from behind and this time, he was pulling only one car.
08:21"Samson! You can take more than that!"
08:24"I know, Thomas, but it's much quicker this way! Saves time in the long run!"
08:30But Thomas knew Samson wasn't really saving time, he was just being silly again!
