4.4 Magnitude Earthquake
Hits Tennessee and Georgia The quake was recorded by the
U.S. Geological Survey just
after 4 a.m. ET on Wednesday. The epicenter of the quake was
about 150 miles from Nashville. Tennessee hasn't experienced
a quake of this magnitude in 45 years. A 4.7 quake struck
East Tennessee in 1973. The quake had a 3.3 aftershock
less that 15 minutes later. It was felt as far
south as Georgia and
as far north as Kentucky. There have been no reports of serious damage or injuries.
