Liberty senior Journie Augmon has tremendous basketball instincts — like her father, Stacey, who starred at UNLV from 1987-91 and played 15 years in the NBA. The younger Augmon didn't grow up playing basketball, though, and was a cheerleader for several years. Her dad never pressured her until playing basketball, and she decided to start on her own in 7th grade. Augmon started for the Patriots last year and helped them reach the Class 4A state championship game. She's one of the area's top players this year, and averages an area-best 12.3 rebounds to go with 9.5 points and 2.3 steals.
