India could be berating itself as a superpower. But 700 million Indians going without power for hours after three of the five regional power grids collapsed obviously does not augur well for such a claim. The power grid collapsing over two successive days across large swathes of India is being attributed to the entire economic and political dynamics that underlies India's power sector. Political populism is being attributed to prevailing power crisis.
