Petite and soft-spoken, 13-year-old Mittal Patadiya hardly looks like someone who could hurt a fly. But when the need arose, this brave girl took on and tackled an attacker more than twice her size. What's sweet is that this brave girl did all this to save a foster family, into which she is not even formally adopted. Seeing the attackers hold a carving knife to the foster mother's neck, and one held to her own, Mittal fought back. She bit into the assailant's hands and screamed while breaking free. The girl was felicitated, not just by the police and the media, but also decorated with a medal by the President. Mittal was awarded the Geeta Chopra Bravery award for 2011.
