When he boarded an Oman bound plane from Nairobi five years ago, he was assured he would begin working in the kitchen section of a popular restaurant abroad.
But this was not to be as Desmond Otieno, popularly known to his fans as Wamama, the King of Kilimani Mums was told his teeth were not suitable for the position and he was delegated to washing toilets for a net salary of 10000 Kenyan shillings.
Lonely nights made social media his companion. He began uploading videos of his well-loved dance moves on Facebook and became an overnight sensation.
Today he is famous to many but all Wamama wants is to take his family out of Korogocho slums, open a salon and meet Kenya’s king of comedy Daniel Ndambuki.
