Be it solo-hunting or hunting with a dog, the rabbit remains a difficult prey to get hold off! With its frantic speed, jump and agility, the rabbit manages to throw the hunters off the trail. If you want to hunt the rabbits, we recommend using Beagles, because they can smell, jump, follow, and bring the rabbit back to right where you are standing. You may choose to use other dog breeds, such as Labrador Retriever, American Foxhound, Pointer, etc. When hunting in a group, it is recommended to use a pack of 5 or 6 dogs to chase the rabbit and maintain a distance of up to 130 feet. Allowing the dogs to chase the rabbit and bring it back, gives you a chance for a cleaner kill and better meat. Be patient, respect your dogs and work together! And when the dogs bring the rabbit, make sure when you get the prey to show it back to the dog, so they can see the fruits of their labour. Also, be mindful of any other thing your dogs might be chasing including deer. Happy hunting!
