The 72nd edition of the Cannes Film Festival opened on Tuesday with Jim Jarmusch's zombie extravaganza "The Dead Don't Die".
21 films will be competing for the top prize, including South Korean film "Parasite". The film, directed by Bong Joon-ho, features two ordinary families in different situations.
The festival's jury this year is made up of four women and four men -- the first time both genders have been represented equally on the jury.
The winner of the Palme d'Or will be announced at the closing ceremony on May 25th.
