Electric car boost for JLR but job losses not ruled out

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) plans to build three new electric cars at its manufacturing plant in Castle Bromwich. The plan will safeguard the jobs of the 2,500 workers at the West Midlands factory and provides a huge boost for the car industry. However, JLR chief executive Dr Ralf Speth said that the company is "facing a very difficult time” and could not rule out the possibility of future job losses at the UK plants. Dr Speth said he will not "promise anything which at the end of the day I could not keep". Report by Jonesia.
