Robert Jenrick has accused Sir Keir Starmer of "breaking promises" as speculation grows that the prime minister will raise taxes in October. Mr Starmer delivered a speech on Tuesday where he warned the autumn Budget "will be painful". Mr Jenrick said: "He's only 53 days into this government and he's already breaking promises. He cut the winter fuel allowance so that 10 million pensioners are going to be worse off this winter just as fuel bills look like they're going to be on the rise and he's preparing the ground to raise taxes on middle class people."

00:00Well, Keir Starmer is already revealing his true colours.
00:02He's only 53 days into this government,
00:05and he's already breaking promises.
00:07He's cut the winter fuel allowance so that 10 million pensioners
00:11are going to be worse off this winter,
00:13just as fuel bills look like they're going to be on the rise.
00:16And he's preparing the ground to raise taxes on middle-class people.
00:20And why? Because of the political choices he's making.
00:23He's chosen to give £10 billion to his trade union, Paymasters,
00:27and £8 billion for an energy company, for Ed Miliband,
00:31that won't even produce any energy.
00:33These are the wrong choices.
00:35These are selfish political decisions
00:37that are going to hurt working people and pensions in this country,
00:40and we Conservatives are going to oppose them.
