An exhibition of the horsemanship masters of the "Seccion de Alta Escuela" of the Chilean Army, in Quillota, Valparaiso region. At the sound of marches played by military band, the horsemen show evolutions of the so called "High School" (dressage).
They can look in some way like a childish merry-go-round, but their skills recall a time when similar evolutions were executed on battlefields by hundreds, or even thousands of charging cavalrymen. The music of the bands is a key element in coordination of horses movements, and so was on battlefield until the Great War. The overwhelming rhythmic sound of Napoleonic marches is telltale of their effectiveness as a mean of coordinating entire units of infantry and cavalrymen into the battles'carnage.
