Fire crews were today battling a blaze onboard a luxury superyacht which caught fire as it moored at a harbour on a Thai.

Thick smoke was seen rising from the vessel name Lady D as it came in to dock at around 8 am local time today (August 7) in Phuket, Thailand.

Panicked crew members initially tried to battle the blaze themselves. But they fled to safety when the fire grew and spread rapidly through the body of the boat.

Firefighters arrived and used hoses to battle the fire onboard the yacht at the Ao Po Grand Marina.

All the staff on board at the time safely evacuated from the 10m baht (325,000 USD) yacht.

Nobody was injured. There were not believed to be any passengers onboard at the time of the fire.

Firefighters, rescue workers and marine police arrived at the scene and spent an hour trying to bring the blaze under control. The fire was initially subdued but flared up again. They have now towed the boat further into the ocean away from other vessels to try and stop them from being damaged.
