MANILA - Blake Warren Coloma Ang is still in disbelief that he topped the latest physician licensure examination. The young doctor said he was at the grocery when he received a text message from his father that he passed the exam with flying colors. "I was amazed and parang na-shock because of the result na top 1 pala ako. I just can't believe my eyes," he said. Ang said the exam was really difficult particularly the section on pathology. "During the first weekend ang first day medyo OK lang siya pero on the Sunday on the first weekend naglisod sa pathology na exam," he said. The Ang family are lumads from Surigao. Ang finished nursing in 2008 and he also passed the nursing licensure exam. He then took medicine at the Cebu Institute of Medicine under a scholarship program. Ang said he learned a lot during his internship at the Philippine General Hospital. All 79 examinees from the Cebu Institute of Medicine passed the exam. Ang now plans to work in either Cebu or Manila as a pediatric surgeon. He also wants to teach in his alma mater in Cebu. ANC Headstart, August 28, 2013
