Li Ziqi Turns Corn Into a Chinese Feast

This is the second episode of our three-part collaboration with Li Ziqi, a Chinese internet celebrity whose videos about rural life have attracted a global following of over 50 million fans.

In this exclusive video first released to Goldthread, Li shows us how to make a myriad of traditional Chinese dishes—from scratch—using corn.

Corn is originally from the Americas, but it was introduced to China in the 1500s and quickly became a staple crop, particularly in northern parts of the country.

Although corn is mostly used in China today as animal feed, at its height in the 1940s, about two-thirds of China’s corn was consumed by people.

Stay tuned for our exclusive interview with Li Ziqi next week!
