High street analysis shows 289,000 jobs lost during 2010s

289,000 high street jobs have been lost over the last decade - 81% of which were held by women - according to analysis by the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA) Future Work Centre. Alan Lockey, who heads the centre, highlighted the importance of retraining people to increase their employment opportunities, adding: "The best jobs growth and the highest-wage job growth at the moment are coming from the tech sector."
