The U.S. meatpacking industry has been hit hard by COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, with cases in at least 115 meat and poultry plants reported by 19 states, according to the CDC.. At least 30 meat workers have died of coronavirus nationwide, and more than 10,000 have been infected or exposed. The shutdowns have sparked meat shortages throughout the country. COVID-19 has almost impacted supply chains, farmers and ranchers. Some facilities have reopened after President Donald Trump signed an April 28 executive order that declared meatpacking plants as critical infrastructure under the Defense Production Act, but closures still plague the industry.Music Credit: 'Hip-Hop Trap Beat - "Truth"' by Curtis Harris
