01:52The continued wave of death dealing explosions
01:55struck yesterday at area defense headquarters.
01:57As in previous occasions, the authorities are unable to detect the cause of these blasts,
02:01which have done untold damage.
02:03Who could possibly be doing this?
02:05Well, there are several theories, Joan.
02:07But so far, no one is even sure what kind of explosives are being used or how they're set off.
02:11Maybe Mr. Henderson will have some information for us when he gets in from Washington.
02:15That guy Henderson wouldn't tell you what time it is.
02:17Just what is his job, anyway?
02:19He won't tell you that either, Ted, but it's a big one.
02:21He only answers to a few people in this country of ours.
02:24I think that...
02:25Hello, Mr. Henderson.
02:30Hello, Commander Cody.
02:31Ted, Miss Gilbert, how are you getting along with the rocket ship?
02:34As well as can be expected, sir.
02:36Our tests for the model are satisfactory.
02:38If the government will let us make a few test flights with the rocket...
02:40It's out of the question.
02:42This whole project is strictly top secret.
02:45Since you people developed the rocket ship for us, and we'll be the ones operating it,
02:49it has been decided that you should know more of our plans.
02:52I've been authorized to tell you this much.
02:54Its primary use will be to combat this wave of sabotage and destruction of our defense system.
02:59You mean the government knows what's causing it?
03:01Not definitely, but tests of the wreckage show that the explosions are of atomic origin.
03:06You mean someone's dropping atomic bombs on us?
03:08Not bombs. No planes have been observed, and the explosions aren't severe enough.
03:12No, from what I've learned of the nature of the blast,
03:14they seem more like an atomic ray of some kind.
03:16Of course, that's just a guess.
03:18It's the same guess that we've made, because it's the only possible answer.
03:22But no one has ever been able to make an atomic ray machine.
03:25You mean no one on Earth ever has?
03:27Say, this rocket we're building will be able to fly to the Moon.
03:30Maybe someone up there has built one that could get down here.
03:32We believe that possible.
03:34And for some time, our astronomers have been noticing an unusual amount of atomic activity on the Moon.
03:39Atomic activity on the Moon.
03:41Atomic blasts on the Earth.
03:44The two known facts fit together.
03:46Yes, it adds up.
03:48So that's why you want us to fly to the Moon?
03:50Yes.
03:51And when you get to the Moon, find out if these attacks are actually coming from there.
03:54And try to devise some plan for stopping them.
03:57In the meantime, we'll do what we can with these attacks here.
04:01Is your flying suit still working?
04:03Yes.
04:04We may ask you to use it.
04:06If a ray gun is being used to cause these blasts,
04:09it's probably being operated from the ground.
04:11And if you could get to the scene of the attack soon enough,
04:14you might be able to find some clue to the attackers.
04:17I'll be glad to try.
04:18Good.
04:19We'll phone you as soon as we have any information about another attack.
04:22All right, sir.
04:23Goodbye.
04:36There she is.
04:37Right on time.
04:47That did it.
04:48Let's get over to Kern Pass.
04:50That troop train will be along soon.
04:55All right, I'll get out there right away.
04:57Say, give me a hand with the flying suit, Ted.
04:59A trainload of army supplies was just blasted off the west end of the valley.
05:04A rancher reported he saw a truck parked on a hill,
05:07overlooking the tracks, two men in it,
05:09working some kind of a gun.
05:11They pulled out right after the wreck and headed toward Kern Hills.
05:14Henderson's office gave me a description of the truck,
05:16so I'm going out to look for it.
05:17I suppose you'll be wanting this.
05:19Yes.
05:20I may need it.
05:47She ought to be along any time now.
06:17Okay, get set.
06:47Now!
07:18Let's get out of here.
07:20And leave the ray gun?
07:21What else can we do?
07:37The loss of the ray gun is not too serious.
07:40I brought sufficient equipment from the moon to build several of them,
07:43but I do not care to have the Earth people learn the secrets of our weapons.
07:47From the description you gave me of your attacker's costume,
07:50it must have been Commando Cody in his flying suit.
07:54He will probably take our ray gun to his laboratory for examination.
07:58So you must go there at once and recover the atomic chamber from the ray gun.
08:02That's a large order, Krog.
08:04We hired out to work your ray gun.
08:06This business of...
08:07You were hired to do anything that I may consider necessary
08:09to pave the way for our invasion from the moon.
08:12You're being well paid for your work, so do as you're ordered.
08:16Okay.
08:30Is working on this gun going to hold up finishing the rocket ship?
08:33No.
08:34I'll just give it a quick examination and then turn it over to the authorities.
08:37We'll still be able to take off for the moon next Wednesday.
08:42Okay.
08:51Take it easy and you won't get hurt.
08:54Move back.
08:56There's the unit we want. Grab it.
09:12Move back.
09:43Come on.
10:06And don't try to follow us.
10:12Krog.
10:29Krog.
10:30Calling Reddick.
10:35Krog.
10:36Calling Reddick.
10:43Come in, Krog.
10:44A rocket ship is leaving here in five days to investigate our moon.
10:48I did not believe the Earthmen possessed a ship capable of making the journey.
10:52I just learned about it myself, but I'm sure my information is correct.
10:56Very well. It is not too serious.
10:58We will be prepared to take care of the visitors when they arrive.
11:13Krog.
11:31I still think this is no trip for a woman.
11:33Now don't start that again. You'll be very glad to have someone along who can cook your meals.
11:37I'll say we will.
11:38Don't give her any more arguments.
11:40Okay. I like to eat too.
11:43Well, boys, that's it.
11:45Well, the best of luck to all of you, sir.
11:47Hope this thing works all right.
11:49So do we.
11:50Goodbye.
11:51Goodbye, sir.
11:58Hiya, folks.
11:59Hello, Hank. All set?
12:01All warmed up. We can take off right now. That is all.
12:03Thank you, sir.
12:04Thank you, sir.
12:05Thank you, sir.
12:06Thank you, sir.
12:07Thank you, sir.
12:08Thank you, sir.
12:09Thank you, sir.
12:10Thank you, sir.
12:11We can take off right now.
12:12That is if the ship will stand up to the test we made with the model.
12:14I think it will.
12:15Now let's go.
12:28Safety belts fastened.
12:32Fire pilot jets.
12:38Fire main jets.
12:41Fire main jets.
12:42Fire main jets.
12:44Fire main jets.
13:10Well, you'd hardly know we were moving.
13:12Well, believe it or not, we are.
13:13A lot of miles per minute.
13:15She's living up to the test we made.
13:17Set a course for the moon.
13:18Right.
13:24Take over here, will you, Ted?
13:43We're just about here.
13:50Looks like we're on the right track.
13:52We ought to be down in another two hours.
14:13There's a city just ahead.
14:18Where do we set down?
14:21Let's take her back in those hills where we can find a place to hide the ship.
14:25Then I'll fly over the city in the rocket suit.
14:27Okay.
14:36Set her down in that canyon.
14:39Okay.
14:42Let's go.
15:12Let's go.
15:42You are going in the right direction, Earth man.
15:45Enter the first door you come to.
15:50Turn the control.
15:51The door will open.
16:12Welcome, Commando Cody.
16:43I am Rettig, ruler of the moon.
16:46Apparently, you were expecting me.
16:48Of course.
16:49For many years, our radio has kept us informed of events on Earth.
16:53And my men there have advised me of your every move.
16:56I see you have adopted our language.
16:59Yes.
17:00All our people are required to speak English.
17:02So we can operate more efficiently in your country.
17:06Do you mind telling me why your men are here?
17:09Not at all.
17:10They are merely softening up your defenses for our impending invasion.
17:15Why do you want to invade the Earth?
17:17Because the atmosphere on the moon has become so thin and dry,
17:21it is impossible for us to raise food,
17:23except in pressurized greenhouses.
17:25And none of us can move outside without helmets.
17:28So we are planning a mass migration to your world.
17:31You will find that conquering the Earth isn't so easy.
17:34So we are planning a mass migration to your world.
17:37You will find that conquering the Earth isn't so easy.
17:40But it will be.
17:42Because of our atomic weapons on the moon,
17:45we have an element, Lunarium,
17:47which is far superior to Uranium as a base for atomic reactions.
17:52And we can completely control the force of these reactions,
17:56enabling us to build atomic weapons,
17:58ranging from huge cannons to these small ray pistons.
18:05It's very considerate of you to give me all this information.
18:08It's very considerate of you to give me all this information.
18:11You deserve some reward for your long journey.
18:14But unfortunately, I cannot permit you to return to Earth with it.
18:18Maybe I have something to say about that.
18:28So much for the effectiveness of your weapons.
18:31Now I will demonstrate one of ours.
18:43It's easy.
19:01It's hard.
20:01To be continued...
