A terrified motorcycle rider found a live snake living under the seat.

Wiriya Dabthong, 33, was about to set off from his home in Ang Thong, central Thailand when he noticed the green snake's tail poking out.

He said: "When I started the engine, I saw a tail under the motorbike cover. There was no way I was riding away with the snake inside, even if it meant being late for my appointment.''

The shocked rider called animal rescuers for help because the serpent had squeezed too far inside his bike on August 10.

Snake handler Jirawat Iamlamai, 28, arrived at the scene, and helped look for the snake inside the engine, where it had not disappeared to.

However, the snake had tucked itself too far inside the machinery that even the snake catcher could not lure it out.

The frustrated rider agreed to take his vehicle to a repair shop where a mechanic was able to remove some parts of the engine to see inside.

The motorbike's cover was removed and the snake was hosed down with water to make it come out.

They spent more than ten minutes before the 4ft long golden tree snake was pulled out of the engine.

The nonvenomous snake was taken by the rescuer to be released later into the wild.

Meanwhile, superstitious neighbors who heard the news asked for the house and license plate number to use in the lottery as locals believe that animal encounters are lucky.
