To mark the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death, we asked Malaysian stage and screen actors to perform some memorable monologues from The Bard's tragedies.
Marina Tan acts for Shakespeare Demystified and was cast in two adaptations of The Bard's works this year, including "Margaret Of Anjou: She-Wolf Of France, Twice Queen Of England". Here, she takes on Macbeth's soliloquy in the moments before he plans to murder King Duncan and assume the crown for himself.
Next, Sabera Shaik, founder of the Masakini Theatre company, performs Tamora's solo from "Titus Andronicus". In this powerful monologue about revenge, Tamora convinces her sons to kill Titus' daughters, Lavinia and Bassianus.
Finally, Qahar Aqilah, last seen in "Shakespeare's R&J", reads the most famous passage from "Hamlet", in which the Prince of Denmark contemplates suicide after finding out that his uncle had poisoned and killed his father.
