Irma la Douce is a 1963 American romantic comedy film starring Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine, directed by Billy Wilder. It is based on the 1956 French stage musical Irma La Douce by Marguerite Monnot and Alexandre Breffort.

Plot - Irma, a little prostitute from a Parisian neighborhood, leaves her protector when she meets Nestor, a former policeman. He would like the woman to attend only one wealthy client and, having become unrecognizable, introduces himself to her with the name of Lord X. To pay the debts of her double life he has to work hard and secretly. However, at some point, he feels jealous of Lord X and thinks about killing him. The police found the clothes along the Seine and sentenced Nestor to 15 years in prison. Irma, desperate, prepares an escape plan and Nestor, to prove her innocence, reappears as Lord X. Then decides to live honestly next to Irma, who is expecting a child.
