Finding out what Autopilot did

Welcome back to our AiHello AutoPilot educational series. Today we will be analyzing what AutoPilot did, judging its performance and tweaking parameters for improving it even further.

So lets jump right into it. You can view your AutoPilot logs by clicking on “AutoPilot Logs” sub-menu under the “Amazon Ads” menu.

You can view how the autopilot optimized your bids, what keywords were harvested , customer search terms that were automatically added and keywords that were moved from auto campaigns to manual campaigns.

In the AutoPilot logs page, select first select a profile. If your profile name has only digits and is confusing, you can tag your profile with some friendly name.

Here in my screen I have already tagged my profiles with friendly names but if you want to do it then head over to the campaigns page, click on the small rename button next to each profile and enter a friendly name and hit the save button.

Ok, so lets go back to our AutoPilot logs page and select a profile.
The campaigns list should now be auto populated with all of your campaigns. Campaigns that are on autopilot will have the autopilot icon in front of it.

Autopilot logs will only be available for campaigns on AutoPilot.

Hot Tip: If you select a campaign without autopilot, you can still see the stats and setup AutoPilot directly from this logs page by clicking on the AutoPilot button

Once you have selected a campaign, the autopilot logs for the latest date will be displayed in a list below.
If there are no logs then AutoPilot has not run for today in which case you can choose a previous day.

Now that you can see the logs lets quickly go over how to read the logs.

Rows marked green are the bids that autopilot successfully executed.
While rows that are marked red are the bids that autopilot could not execute and mostly likely its either because the maximum bid allowed was reached or the bid is already at optimal point.

The first column is a button to open up historical charts for that specific keyword.
You can click on it to view how AutoPilot optimized that keyword over time and also the sales and revenues attributed to that keyword. This will give you a fair idea of why AutoPilot optimized the keyword.

The spend and sales column shows the sales and spend for that particular keyword target for the last acos average days which by default is 7 days. You can change the acos average days in your AutoPilot settings

The current bid is your existing bid at the time the AutoPilot ran and the New Bid is the optimized bid value that AutoPilot has calculated.

If AutoPilot increased the bid for the keyword, the new bid will be in green color and marked with an up arrow. If AutoPilot decreased the bid for the keyword, the new bid will be in red color and marked with a down arrow.

The message column will have more details on why AutoPilot increased or reduced your bids.

You can also view new keywords that were harvested by AutoPilot in the autopilot logs.
