India (IND) and Australia (AUS) will be facing each other in the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on December 26, 2018. The Boxing Day Test match is a highlight but an ominous sign for India. It is the last cricketing game of the calendar year and Virat Kohli's men will be using all their might to make sure that they don't end up losing their eight Test in 2018. If they end up doing so, they will surpass a record set up by team India in 1983 of losing the most number of Test matches in a calendar year. This year has been sensational for Virat Kohli barring the overseas losses. If he scores 82 more runs in MCG, he'll go past 'The Wall' Rahul Dravid as the Indian Test batsman to score most number of runs on overseas soil in a calendar year. And a hundred from Kohli's blade will not only make him have the same number of hundreds with Sunil Gavaskar against Australia. But that hundred will also guarantee Kohli to be spoken in the same breath as 'The Little Master' Sachin Tendulkar, as both will share the same number of hundreds in a calendar year.
Coming to the Boxing Day Test match, both sides have made massive changes to their squad. The dismal show by both Indian openers, Murali Vijay and KL Rahul have got them out of the squad. Hanuma Vihari and the newly recruited Mayank Agarwal will open for India tomorrow. In place of Ravichandran Ashwin, Jadeja has been given a place in the playing XI. On the other hand, Australia have left out Peter Handscomb and brought in all-rounder Mitch Marsh to strengthen the Aussie lineup.
But come tomorrow, MCG will be buzzing and India will be on the verge of history if they can make the series 2-1 in their favour. Will captain Kohli shine or will the demons of MCG come to haunt India yet over again?
