This is the moment a woman crossing a street in Los Angeles is sent flying when she is struck by a hit-and-run driver.

The incident happened when a grey Hyundai Elantra hit the victim, who was walking across Beverly Glen Boulevard near Wellworth Avenue, in the Westwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, in the western US state of California, on Saturday 30th October at around 1:55 PM.

The woman is said to have sustained serious injuries in the incident and the Hyundai driver did not stop. They are now sought by police for having failed to stop, render assistance, or make themselves known to the authorities.

Local firefighters responded to the scene and took the victim, who has not been named, to hospital where she was treated for serious injuries. There have been no further updates regarding the health status of the injured woman.

The footage was shared online by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) yesterday (Monday 13th December) and police are appealing for witnesses to come forwards. They said that the Hyundai Elantra is missing its rear bumper.
