This is the moment a police officer rescues a terrified woman from a sinking car after she ended up in a river.
The incident took place in Bush River, which is an estuary in Harford County in the US state of Maryland, and police said that the car was stopped on a boat ramp when they arrived and was already partially submerged.
They said that they tried to remove the driver, a woman, from the vehicle but they were unable to do so before the vehicle went into the water completely. It is at this point that the woman, who has not been named, got out of the car and was helped to shore by a police officer.
The footage shows the police officer helping the woman to shore, where people are waiting to help pull her out of the water.
The images were shared online by the Harford County Sheriff's office, who said: "On December 10, 2021, in 40-degree weather, Deputies assigned to the Southern Precinct entered the cold waters of the Bush River to save a 25-year-old woman.
"Deputies responded to the area of Flying Point Park Marina at 1:02 pm, after a call to check on the wellbeing of the woman, who is not being identified."
They also said that the car was partially in the water already when they arrived. They said: "Upon arrival, they observed her vehicle, on the boat ramp, partially in the water. Deputies attempted to remove the driver, and only occupant, but were unable to get her out before the car completely entered the water. Once the vehicle was nearly fully submerged, the driver jumped out of the vehicle and into the cold water."
