For so many on the New South Wales South Coast, New Year's eve 2019 was a truly horrifying day. Racing out of their homes from the early morning, thousands lined stretches of the coast as bushfires bore down on them. In Malua Bay, just south of Batemans Bay, many homes were destroyed, including the town's bowls club. Two years on, the recovery hasn't been without its challenges, but there's optimism over a busy summer.
