Securities Commission to speak to Azam Baki over "my brother did it" explanation

The Securities Commission will be contacting MACC chief Azam Baki after he admitted that his brother had used his name to purchase shares.

In a statement this evening, the SC said it will be speaking to Azam for an explanation and to verify statements made, as well as gather any relevant evidence.

MACC's Anti-Corruption Advisory Board chairperson Abu Zahar Ujang's attempt to explain away the controversy by claiming that they were purchased in Azam's name by his younger brother ended up opening another can of worms, including the possibility of running afoul of the Securities Industry (Central Depositories) Act 1991.
