A China Eastern Airlines ($CEA@China) Boeing 737 has crashed with 132 people on board in the mountains of southern China while flying from Kunming to Guangzhou. The 6-year old Boeing 737-800 was confirmed crashed by a spokesman for China Eastern Airlines. While an emergency team has been sent to the location, the total number of casualties is not yet known. Reports indicate that a brush fire has broken out after a fire was sparked amongst the debris. Shockingly, the aircraft appears to have fallen as much as 5000 feet per minute just before the crash, nearly 5 times the recommended amount for a normal descent. Boeing ($BA@US) and China Eastern stock were slipping in the aftermath of the accident, but China Eastern turned over its website to black and white to show respect for the victims. More details to come.
