Nine Week Roman Emperor: Didius Julianus

The nine week emperor, Didius Julianus, succeeded Pertinax after the latter’s assassination by buying the imperial Roman throne only to befall the same fate in three months. Didius Julianus was born in 133 or 137 CE to a prominent family from what is now modern-day Milan, but he was raised by the mother of the Emperor Marcus Aurelius. His family probably had political connections to make that happen, and lucky for Julianus, she jumpstarted his career.
