If you've ever hunted for better career opportunities online, you know that job listings are incredibly meticulous.
But they often leave job seekers asking the same question: How much does it pay?
According to CNN, currently, only around 12% of online job postings in the United States include ranges of salary.
It may not sound like much, but more companies have started to post what they pay.
Since 2019, 8% more job postings have included salary expectations.
Legislation that requires employers to include salary information on their job posts recently passed in New York City.
"Starting in May, all businesses that employ four or more people must include salary on their job listings.Our new law shines a light on pay inequity." Helen Rosenthal, former New York City Council member, via CNN.

So, why have employers thus far lacked transparency in salary requirements?
Experts say the cost of labor is a massive expense for companies.
Because of this, employers have an incentive to hide salary information, enabling them to lure candidates for lower pay.
