Here's a deeper look at what the data shows.
Transcript
00:00 The readily employed in Leeds are enjoying some of the highest salaries in the UK.
00:04 That's according to figures revealing the average wage in each area in the country outside of London.
00:10 The West Yorkshire city boasts an average £37,800 annual income,
00:15 with Cambridge, Bristol and Manchester following in the list.
00:18 Leeds isn't the biggest or the most populous place on the list,
00:22 so why is the average salary so high there?
00:24 Well, the city is home to two banking firms, First Direct and Yorkshire Bank,
00:28 supermarket giant Asda calls the city its home too,
00:31 along with broadcaster Channel 4 and delivery firm Every.
00:35 Unsurprisingly, the true top of the list is in the nation's capital,
00:38 in particular the Square Mile in East Central London.
00:41 Home to the financial district, the area houses the UK's highest paid postcode.
00:46 The analysis of around one million online jobs listings shows the Outer Hebrides off the west coast of Scotland,
00:52 Telford in the Midlands and Lerwick in Shetland are among the places
00:56 with the lowest average advertised salaries, according to the report.
