The Johnstons have brought the full Irish tradition to bear on our own times.
"Colours of the dawn" is a music confrontation with reality on many levels, and is diffused with symbolic colours of the dawn which results when a new way of looking at things present itself. The fifth album by The Johnstons was the last to include Moloney in the lineup and is devoted half to original material and half to covers(Lightfoot, Cohen, Peggy Seeger, and Ian Campbell). The material as usual is a mixture of traditional and orginal songs.
Adrienne Johnston - vocals.
Mick Moloney vocals, guitar, banjo, mandolin.
Paul Brady - vocals, guitar, piano.
Brian Brockelhurts - bass.
Mal White - bodhràn.
Hello friend.
Crazy Anne.
Brightness, she came.
If I could.
Angela Davis.
Colours of the dawn.
I'll be gone in the morning.
Seems so long ago, Nancy.
Old man's tale.
