Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Chairman George Erwin Garcia and other commissioners inspected the site of the proposed COMELEC Main Office Building Complex, located in Central Business Park 1, Island A in Pasay City. The land area is more than 2 hectares and is fit to accommodate all offices of the Comelec.

The poll body is asking the Department of Budget and Management and Congress for an increase in their budget that aims to cover the cost for the construction of the new building which is P8.2 billion, according to Garcia, with a target to finish construction within five years.

Currently, the Comelec rents offices and warehouses costing hundreds of millions to operate. (MB Video by Ariel Fernandez)
