JAPAN | ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR TOURISTS
We will soon return to the Land of the Rising Sun after what seemed like an eternity of waiting! As part of the government's strategy for a complete recovery of foreign tourism, admission requirements to Japan will be lowered beginning on September 7, 2022.
Here are the things you should do to get ready for your trip to Japan, though, before you purchase that plane ticket.
Since June 10, 2022, leisure travellers from a few "blue list" nations and territories have been allowed to enter without being subjected to quarantine. Anyone entering from a country or territory on the "yellow" list must have had all required vaccinations. Additionally, they won't be subject to Japan's quarantine regulations.
Pre-arrival documents for travel to Japan
All tourists from “blue list” countries must meet the following travel requirements for Japan:
Passport with at least six months’ validity
Valid tourist visa – if applicable
More info here
Proof of vaccination against COVID-19
For those coming from “yellow” countries
Health insurance with COVID-19 coverage
Registration to the MySOS and COCOA mobile apps
Must be made at least six hours prior to arrival
Booking with an approved tour group
There are currently seven airports in Japan that welcome overseas travellers: Narita, Haneda, Kansai, Chubu Centrair, Fukuoka, New Chitose, and Naha.
All international travellers will be subject to document checking and health screening protocols at the airport. Fortunately, tourists from “blue list” countries will not be subject to any COVID-19 tests (both pre-departure and on-arrival).
