Police Dog Memorial unveiled in Pollok Park, Glasgow.

Scottish Police Dog Memorial are a registered charity who raised funds to erect a memorial to honour the Police Dogs of Scotland past, present & future. We are a small group of volunteers working in our spare time and raised £35,000 for the project.

Everyday in Scotland Police dogs are working hard for their local communities. It's not all about fighting crime and locating criminals, these dogs also find missing people returning them to their families or assisting in getting them medical help. There are dogs trained to sniff out drugs, cash, weapons, explosives, property and victim recovery dogs. The dogs love what they do and each day on duty is another day they help people therefore we think it's only right that the dogs are remembered for their incredible service.

The memorial will pay tribute to all legacy forces within Scotland, Police Scotland, British Transport Police, Ministry of Defence Police and Civil Nuclear Constabulary.

After seeing the incredible National UK K9 Memorial in Essex we thought there was only one choice of sculptors for us. Luckily Mr Doubleday agreed and he travelled up to Glasgow to meet PD Ziggy who is the model for our memorial. Our vision was a General Purpose Police Dog lying down but looking alert. Although we had to pick a dog for the sculptor to work with Ziggy represents every General Purpose and Specialist Police Dog who has ever served in Scotland.
