“The Red Sleeve” is a historical romance series set in the 1700s. Based on real-life events, it tackles the love story of the King of Joseon and an ordinary court woman who serves the royalty.
The series stars award-winning actors Lee Jun-Ho as Yi San, Lee Se-Young as Sung Deok Im, Kang Hoon as Hong Deok Ro and Jang Hye-jin as Court Lady Seo.
"The Red Sleeve" took home the Best Drama award, while Lee Jun-Ho was hailed as the Best Actor in the 2022 Korea PD Awards. Recently, Lee Jun-Ho also won as the Best Actor at the 58th Baeksang Arts Awards, one of the most prestigious award-giving bodies in South Korea.
Yi San is an aloof and perfectionist young prince who strives to be a compassionate king. However, his father's death has left an emotional trauma in his heart and he fears that he might also end up dying miserably.
Later on, he meets Sung Deok Im, an intelligent court lady who wants to live the life of her choice rather than become one of the “King's women.” Yi San falls in love with her and tries to convince Sung Deok Im to be his concubine.
Will Sung Deok Im accept the proposal and learn to love him back? Will Yi San take the throne from his ruthless grandfather and rule as a benevolent king?
