Hornbills are birds from the Bucerotidae family. In Greek "Buceros" means "Cow Horn". This refers to the morphology of the hornbill, which has a beak in the shape of a cow's horn when viewed from the side.
On this occasion we will see the Papua hornbill. The male Papuan hornbill has a larger and more colorful beak than the female. In addition, the male has a white throat, brown head and red eyes. While the female has a blue throat, black head and eyes. The protrusion above the beak of the Papuan hornbill is called the balung or casque. The balung forms a fold line that shows the age of the Papuan hornbill. The more fold lines on the balung, indicating the increasing age of the Papuan hornbill.
