It’s the annual cycle - indulge in all our favourite foods throughout the festive season, followed by ‘new year, new me’.

So what diets are we trying in 2023? A restrictive diet approach is the preferred choice to manage weight this year, with 40% looking to remove certain foods. Others will be trying intermittent fasting (13%), a low-fat diet (11%) and a high protein one (9%).

However, a healthy sustainable diet should not be about restricting or removing foods but making healthier choices and small changes that enable us to take a year-round approach to improving our diets, whilst still eating all the foods we love.

Many of us (68%) consider burgers unhealthy, 64% pizzas, 30% cheese and 20% sandwiches, but how can we avoid depriving ourselves of these delicious tastes?

Nutritionist, Juliette Kellow, knows we don’t need to give up these foods altogether to benefit our health. She believes we just need to make healthier choices when they’re available and be mindful of portion sizes.
