Italian Dagger Restoration a HOLY GRAIL from World War 1 (1080p)

ABOUT WW1 trench dagger
I got this dagger donated from one of my Italian customers who had seen some of my other World War restoration videos. He told me this was a Piemonte National Guard knife from around the mid-1800's that was shortened to be effective in the trenches during WW1 combat.
So this dagger most likely belonged to the Italian "Arditi" of the elite special forces of the Royal Italian Army in World War I. They were the first modern stormtroopers and they have been defined as "the corps most feared by opposing forces". Italy fought as a joint ally with Serbia, Russia, France, Britain and the United States against Germany, Austria, Hungary, Bulgaria and the Ottoman Empire which together formed the Central Powers. It feels to me like I've been given the holy grail. Thank you very much.
ABOUT RESTORATION
I started by removing some of the corrosion from the brass so I could figure out how to disassemble the blade. The blade and hilt were in pretty bad shape with only minor damage to repair. I started sandblasting the blade blade and MIG welding the rebar on the top side of the blade because the top was in very bad shape.
I also repaired the large crack that ran through both sides of the dagger tip. I chose TIG welding for this job for more control because the metal is brittle. I milled the knife blade and hardened the metal and got everything looking as good as possible, without compromising the original trenching from WW1.
The handle of the beautiful old dagger gets some gentle sandblasting too. There was a large hole in one of the quillons I chose to fill with solder. I have to grind with my smallest file to make this look good. The fix is really good.
For me this could easily be one of my best restorations. It's epic and so satisfying to get your hands on such a historic and well-preserved relic. I made this repair as light as possible without compromising the beautiful old look.
